I had the pleasure of speaking to Joris Poort, CEO and founder of Rescale for the latest podcast episode. One of the reasons I was so keen to speak to Joris was that I have the utmost respect and admiration for people who take risks, have bold ideas and go through the pain and struggling of founding a startup and growing it into a major successful company. I really wanted to use this episode to inspire more people to take more risk and be bolder (on a personal level, something I don't think I did enough of in my 20's and early 30's). l really enjoyed Joris giving his opinion on what it's like to create a startup, the early days in silicon valley, the mindset and culture you need and the mentors who help you along the way. I also very much enjoyed discussing with him on the evolution of cloud computing from the early days in 2011 when they started to now, and some of the parallels that can be drawn to the latest AI revolution. Some of it gets a bit technical but if you're into HPC/cloud computing hopefully you'll enjoy some of that bit. We finished the episode with what I thought was a very interesting deep-dive into the role of Digital Twins, AI Physics and Agentic AI in the next revolution that is impacting engineer companies today. As you can imagine we were quite optimistic about the future! I really appreciated the openness and transparency from Joris on the highs and lows and I hope you will learn a lot from listening and watching this episode! Thanks again Joris Poort lets meet up in a few years time again and see how right or wrong our predictions were! As ever, you can find a link to the full episode in the comments section below.
