I got laid off on March 28th. Here’s what happened next. On March 28th, I was laid off from my role as a React and React Native Engineer. It came unexpectedly. The company had decided to focus on hiring full-stack PHP (Laravel) developers instead. I don’t write PHP, I was brought in as a Mobile Engineer , but along the way, I contributed heavily to the web side as well: fixing bugs, implementing features, and supporting the product team wherever I was needed. Still, business decisions are business decisions. That same day, after letting the news settle in, I opened my laptop and said to myself: “What can I control?” So I got to work. In less than two months, I focused all my energy on building a product I truly believed in: Till Seller a smart cloud based #EPOS cashier and inventory management tool for retail businesses. Here’s what I achieved between then and now: ✅ Pushed the product beyond MVP which was just the desktop app that was used to test the market and get feedbacks from real users ✅ Built and deployed the web dashboard ✅ Finished the mobile app and uploaded it to the store ✅ Closed our first enterprise contract to deploy Till Seller across 12 retail stores ✅ Onboarded non-enterprise businesses and SMEs who now use Till Seller to manage inventory, track sales, and streamline daily operations Currently Till Seller now run on the following platforms 1. Web: the manger or business owner dashboard use for managing shops and getting analytics and impression about each shops 2. Desktop App Windows, Mac coming soon 2. Mobile app android live and iOS under review on store. It have not been an easy ride, because I have to pay staffs salaries and pay my own bills as a young man with responsibilities but I am still pushing and I believe with onboarding more users I can be able to pay staffs salaries for first I don’t care about myself I will be fine. Motivation & Lessons Learned 💡 This experience reminded me that: Being laid off doesn’t define you, what you do next does. Your skills are still valuable, even if they don’t fit a company’s shifting priorities. Momentum comes from action, not waiting. When one door closes, sometimes you're meant to build your own. To anyone else facing sudden change: Use the setback as fuel. You never know what you’re capable of until you’re left with nothing but your own drive. If you’re a small business owner or enterprise looking to simplify your store operations, let’s talk. Till Seller is ready. www.tillseller.com

This really encouraged me as a software engineer. Recently, I was hired primarily for frontend development, but the employer also expected me to take on UI/UX design tasks—something outside the original scope. On top of that, he kept delaying payments, sometimes until the 20th of the following month. It's been weeks without any message or update from him. Still, I’ll keep building, learning, and pushing forward. Here’s what I took from your story: Your skills remain valuable, even when they don't align with a company’s changing expectations. 💫🙏

What saddens me the most is that, as a mobile developer, you're rarely allowed to focus solely on your craft. Instead, you're often handed web-related tasks that fall outside your primary expertise. It's high time employers acknowledged this: a mobile developer is not a web developer or a backend engineer. Sure, many of us can handle those tasks, but that doesn’t mean we should—especially when the contract doesn't clearly state we’ll be doing anything beyond mobile development. The most ironic part? The job description boldly says "Mobile Developer," yet somehow you're expected to juggle frontend, backend, and everything in between. Meanwhile, web and backend engineers aren't expected to pick up mobile development tasks. Why the double standard? Honestly, it just doesn’t add up 🤷♂️.

Big ups to you! 👏 Your story is truly inspiring, and we saw how you refused to step back, instead, you pushed even harder. We know how much time, energy, and heart it takes to build. We celebrate this kind of hard work and the effort. Feel free to send us Dm We're offering to share your story on our platforms and help get it in front of more people, while also strengthening your digital footprint. Keep building. We’re rooting for you! 💪🚀

What made you get into ePOS? What holes did you see to realize it was a market you could get into? I'm still a software student but I would love to learn more about the business side of a software company like yours!

lovely story. We would love to adopt this for our small SMEs. Let's hop on a partnership call next week!

This is incredibly inspiring. It’s one thing to lose a job—it’s another to build a full product ecosystem in response. The level of resilience and clarity you’ve shown here is something I deeply respect. As someone in the digital presence space, I know how vital tools like Till Seller are, not just for operations but for visibility and growth. What you’ve done isn’t just technical—it’s visionary. Rooting for more retail wins and even more impact. 💡👏
