Can I study Robotics? Where can I learn? Every robotics problem starts with the same question: how much intelligence can we achieve with limited hardware? The new project explores autonomous object detection and manipulation using a low-cost robotic arm powered by computer vision and light-based segmentation. Its purpose is to test how affordable systems perform in automated picking and sorting scenarios, revealing both technical limitations and surprising capabilities. This is part of Shimeji’s ongoing exploration into accessible robotics — experiments designed to push the boundaries of what’s possible with minimal resources. Curious how far this approach can go? Visit the website https://lnkd.in/eCNVYjcE And stay tuned for the next step: marine robotics.

In robotics research, you can run 100 experiments, fail 99 times, and still publish a paper from the one success. In the robotics industry, if your robot fails once in 100 runs, you won't have a single customer.
