What a week this has been for AI for instructional designers. Sora 2 is out so that we can quickly create high-quality AI videos (has anyone had a chance to dive deep with it yet?) Open AI just released their agent builder to make automating tasks with AI decision-making even easier. Seedream 4.0 is the latest image generation model, and it is REALLY good at creating consistent characters for eLearning. I personally have been creating an MCP server for my business to serve as our "AI Operating System" and I haven't been this excited about what AI is capable of in a while. Oh, and last week I created a voice-powered, real-time AI experience in Storyline (just a prototype, nothing fancy yet). It’s incredible to see how fast the AI landscape for instructional designers is evolving — and what excites me most isn’t just the new tools, but how they’re fundamentally changing how we think about learning experiences. Sora 2 and Seedream 4.0, for example, are opening the door to scenario-based training that looks and feels like a real-world simulation — without a full production team. And with OpenAI’s agent builder, we’re not far from intelligent learning ecosystems that adapt in real time based on learner choices. I’ve been experimenting with using AI to build more adaptive branching scenarios and realistic learner dialogues — and the results are making me rethink what’s possible in corporate training.
