This is exactly what AWS re/Start programme is all about: closing the digital skills gap and helping people get back into work. Manchester is where my own journey into tech began – studying for my MBA – so it’s incredibly meaningful to see the Amazon Web Services (AWS) re/Start programme now helping others launch careers in tech from the same city. Xanthe’s story will resonate with many: out of the workforce but determined to upskill and re-enter. After completing our free, 12-week programme, she secured an apprenticeship—which soon turned into a full-time job. A critical element of boosting economic growth is equipping businesses with the skills they need to innovate but many have told us that these skills are in short supply. This is why initiatives like AWS re/Start matter: they empower people with the tools they need to succeed while helping UK businesses to thrive.

As an AWS ISV partner, we hosted our own Manchester event earlier this year with Steamhaus with a similar goal: creating space for engineering leaders to talk honestly about modernization, architectural intelligence, and making better use of AWS. When the goal is true education, you get substance. Great to see this!
