On-chain settlement is not the same as economic finality. One of the common assumptions in crypto is that once a transaction settles on-chain, the economic process is complete. For small transfers, that’s often true. For institutional flows, it’s not that simple. In traditional markets, settlement finality depends on a broader system: • custody reconciliation • collateral eligibility • clearing guarantees • legal enforceability Blockchains change the mechanism of recording transfers, but they don’t automatically resolve these surrounding layers.
