Commercial aviation is the safest form of travel What if military/firefighting aviation were equally safe? How much would General Aviation & eVTOL scale if simplicity & safety weren't goals, but table stakes? Skyryse unlocks safety for all aviation, today Learn more on this week's Autonocast w/Mark Groden, PhD: https://lnkd.in/gezzmgWS

✨ Session seven of the #EGNOSWorkshop2025 in Berlin – Successful EGNOS implementation stories in aviation I 🎤 Captain Christian Fenner (Bundeswehr) – Aerodrome Operator presentation Explained that #Rostock Laage became the first armed forces #aerodrome with #SBAS procedures and hoped that step by step all military airfields will follow. Looking ahead, #EGNOS will ensure usability for both civil and #military aircraft under nearly all-weather conditions, helping increase efficiency and traffic capacity. 🎤 Andreas Rödig (Lufthansa Group) – Operator presentation Shared the airline perspective on #LPV operations, highlighting benefits such as safer landings in poor weather, fewer delays and cancellations, and reduced fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. He also pointed out challenges, including #GNSS jamming and spoofing, costly upgrades for older #aircraft, and limited ILS CAT I restrictions at some destinations. #Aviation #SatelliteNavigation #EUSPA #Innovation #BerlinEvents

🗺️ ICAO phonetic alphabet used in aviation, military, and radio communications to avoid confusion between similar-sounding letters. 🌚 Purpose: Ensures clarity over radios where static, accents, or background noise could cause misinterpretation. For example: 🛫 Flight number BA249 is said as Bravo Alpha Two Four Niner. 🛬 Runway 27R is said as Two Seven Right. #ICAO #IATA #WorldAviation #Aviators #ATC #Aviators #GlobalAirports #Middleast #USA #SAL #DHL #FEDEx #UPS #Pilots #LANG #Communication #WorldTravel #linkedIn

The German Armed Forces have incorporated the Pilatus PC-12 NGX into their fleet, enhancing their training and light transport capabilities. Delivered to the Technical and Airworthiness Center at Ingolstadt/Manching air base, this aircraft supports test pilot training and personnel/material transport missions. Powered by a Pratt & Whitney PT6E-67XP engine, the PC-12 NGX offers a maximum range of 1,565 nautical miles and a cruise speed of 290 knots, with the ability to operate from short and unpaved runways. This flexibility allows the Bundeswehr to conduct operations in diverse and challenging environments. The aircraft’s modern avionics and cost-efficient operation make it a valuable asset for both training and logistics. Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. provides ongoing logistical and technical support, ensuring high availability and readiness. This acquisition is part of a broader modernization effort, aiming to maintain operational effectiveness and fleet sustainability. The PC-12 NGX’s adaptability also supports future mission requirements such as medevac, surveillance, and humanitarian aid. #PilatusAircraft #Germany #MilitaryAviation Read more: https://lnkd.in/eSjUYGAf

The Convair XC-99 was a massive American long-range, heavy cargo aircraft developed by Consolidated Vultee (Convair) after World War II. It was the largest piston-engine, land-based transport aircraft ever built in the United States and served as the cargo version of the B-36 Peacemaker strategic bomber. First flown on November 23, 1947, the XC-99 shared the B-36’s enormous 220-foot (67 m) wingspan and six Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major radial engines, each driving pusher propellers. Unlike the bomber, the XC-99 featured a double-deck fuselage with a vast internal cargo bay capable of carrying up to 100,000 pounds (45,000 kg) of cargo or more than 400 fully equipped troops. Operated primarily by the U.S. Air Force, the XC-99 was based in San Antonio, Texas, and made regular long-distance transport flights, including cross-country and intercontinental missions during the early 1950s. Despite its impressive capabilities, only one prototype was built, as the rise of jet-powered transports and the aircraft’s high operating costs made further production impractical. The XC-99 remains a remarkable engineering milestone — a giant sibling to the B-36 and a symbol of the transition from piston-driven to jet-powered heavy transport aviation.

" "Kamov Helicopters - KA-26 Helicopter, NATO reporting name 'Hoodlum,' is a light utility helicopter produced by the Russian aviation company Kamov. Designed and developed in 1965, with the first approved use introduced in 1969, this relatively small helicopter uses coaxial rotors, similar to many other Kamov helicopter designs. Additionally, the rear section of the fuselage is fully removable and interchangeable, allowing the helicopter to perform multiple functions, including cargo transport, passenger transport (capacity of 6 to 7 people), medical evacuation, and even crop spraying. About 800 of these helicopters were manufactured in total and are no longer in production - Conducting spraying of a sunflower field ! "

In a breathtaking display of aerial prowess, Avro Shackleton MR.3 prototype WR970 executed a spectacular low-level fly-past on a single engine at the prestigious Farnborough Air Show in September 1955, just one week after its maiden flight on September 2nd. This remarkable demonstration showcased not only the exceptional skill of the test pilot but also the robust engineering of this maritime patrol aircraft, as flying on one engine , particularly at low altitude before thousands of spectators , required extraordinary piloting precision and aircraft capability. The dramatic single-engine performance at Farnborough became part of aviation lore, highlighting the Shackleton's reliability and power reserves that would later prove crucial during its decades of service with RAF Coastal Command. Tragically, this same prototype would meet its end just over a year later in December 1956, when WR970 crashed in the Peak District during stall testing, claiming the lives of all four crew members aboard. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology #militarytechnology #defensetechnology #defenseinnovation #defenseindustry #airforce #pilots #UK #England
