Excited to see Alan Chhabra and the Cerebras Systems team launching their pay-as-you-go offering on AWS Marketplace. At AWS, we work with customers daily who are pushing the boundaries of AI applications, and inference latency consistently emerges as a critical constraint. Amazon Web Services (AWS) had some issues today. No big deal, every system will break eventually. But it is shocking how many services/costumers were affected. And it is not the first time, this happened in the past also with other big players. And it should make us wonder if these big players really are the future, and if we should rely on them? Having these big players that are responsible for the up-time of so many global services is a risk, we as society need to be willing to take. We are making us depended on a few companies. Where does a road like that lead to? And despite being critic about it, I would still host my next project with AWS (or a competitor). As, it normally simply works easy with them, and that is part of the problem.
