I know of many in my till date career 😄... In every organization, culture is built on trust, transparency and constructive dialogue. Unfortunately, there are times when a few individuals choose a different path. Some employees project themselves as friendly, approachable and supportive peers, but behind the scenes act as unappointed informers, selectively sharing information with senior management to stay in favor. This behavior is not driven by organizational interest, but by personal insecurity and short-term visibility. Such conduct is dangerous. It erodes peer trust, creates an environment of fear and politics, distorts leadership perception and ultimately harms decision-making. Over time, it weakens team cohesion and damages the organization’s culture far more than it benefits any individual. Strong organizations thrive on openness, not covert reporting. Leaders and peers alike must encourage direct communication, ethical conduct and accountability, because trust, once broken, is very hard to rebuild. What do you all think? #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #Trust #Ethics
Something really to beware off!! Should be added to the induction training done by the reporting Manager, isn't it ? Adil Siddiqui 😄
I have seen a few of these moles throughout my career. Very toxic and impossible to manage and difficult to get rid of them, as they can be strong influencer’s and know how to manipulate people and situations to gain control and create a false narrative. Their motives are self serving and they have their own agenda.
Thanks for sharing..& these moles come in all shape & sizes, colors. Some are lean, some serious outlook bragging of co's they worked for, some bald headed potbelly & beard jumping jacks watering fellowmen/mgmt./board.fm the top, but cutting the roots quietly below. Informal feedback is there since ages & good if honest & real, but hiding behind culture/religion to manipulate, secret/ corridor gossips, slandering, cooking up to make a quick impression on bosses who trust them blindly. How cheap! Co's repositioning their brand in sugercoating the cyanide instead of weeding out these moles)...'united' they say smartly;but united in lies, hypocricy, insecurity, scavenging to survive, making a mountain out of an insignificant mole hill! When moles become decision-makers the difference between strategy, plan tactics & a kneejerk approach is made blurred! Instead of learning, they resort to indulgence, damaging careers, passing the noise not the signal. Reputational risk beyond repair. Long term damage at the cost of innocent/straight forward professionals. Ethical & moral bankruptcy seem2b growing fast with material greed, more greed, insecurity as righty pointed out. May the curse of Almighty be on them! A Blessed Friday to all
Trust in the workplace is built on transparency and integrity-but not everyone plays by those rules. Real professionals add value through honest communication and problem-solving, not gossip or hidden agendas. A healthy workplace protects trust-it never uses it as a weapon Adil Siddiqui
Well said—trust and transparency are fragile, and covert behavior undermines both very quickly. Healthy cultures develop when communication is direct and accountability applies to everyone.
It’s definitely the early signs of a toxic relationship or culture if left unchecked. I stick by what I’ve always said, I have complete control over my behaviours and attitudes, not anyone else’s. If leaders can’t see through this, then you’ve really got to question whether it’s the right place for you…
Agreed, but I believe is we cannot control anyone. We should keep continuing our work. They keep a very small space in organizational structure, they dont grow..pray for them to gain wisdom.
I have also encountered them in my career. They generally present themselves as very sweet and innocent people.”
Knowing there’s an office mole can make or break the culture at any point for any reason.
