💡How can we measure the Return of Investment (ROI) for Organisational Learning inititiatives? According to research (Kminski & Lopes 2009), the reasons organisations calculte potential ROI may include: ✅To justify outlay/ learning budget ✅Provide tangible evidence to senior management and stakeholders ✅Build trust and respect for Organisational Learning & Development, as well as gain credibility with C-Suite The following formula can be used to calculate ROI: ROI% = (Benefit - Cost) x 100/ Cost ($) If a positive result is obtained, the Learning & Development program will likely result in a net benefit, for example, the ROI of 150% predicts a 150% return on money invested. For each dollar the program costs, it will yield $1.50. If a negative result is obtained, the Learning & Development program will result in a net cost to the organisation and won't recoup the costs for implementing it. ‼️Key Takeway: No matter the costs when applying ROI to evaluate the value of the L&D program, the relationship of human capital to productivity and profitability is established.
