Julian Wentzel’s Post

Energy security is strengthening the business case for renewables – especially in Asia, which remains heavily reliant to imported energy sources.   I spoke to Elakeyaa Selvaraji at CNA earlier and shared my view that we’re underestimating the scale of energy demand coming across the region. With the rapid deployment in solar and wind, renewables are an increasingly effective and cost-efficient way to strengthen energy security and resilience, while accelerating decarbonisation. And because they can often be delivered faster than traditional baseload power, they’re becoming a practical solution for meeting demand at pace.   Asia’s climate transition is no longer just about ambition. It’s about deploying capital faster into resilience, cleaner power and projects that support economic growth and help protect economies from both climate and energy shocks.   Watch the full video here: https://lnkd.in/exWv3bn4 Ecosperity Temasek CNA #energytransition #climatetech #sustainablefinance #energysecurity

Strongly agree that speed is becoming the decisive advantage. The open question for Asia is whether grid and firming investment can keep pace with generation, because that is where capital is priced and where policy certainty will matter most. Economies that convert fast deployment into credible grid and offtake plans will move capital fastest, turning resilience into a financeable asset rather than an ambition.
