State Bar of Wisconsin’s Post

To celebrate National Volunteer Week we’re highlighting some of the many attorneys who donate their time to the profession. 🌟 Rob Sholl shares his talents with PINNACLE Books and the Labor & Employment Law Section. ⚡Why do you volunteer through the State Bar? “My State Bar volunteer activities principally revolve around my practice area, labor and employment law. Serving two distinct terms on the Labor and Employment Law Section’s Board – separated by over 20 years – allowed me to serve the section’s 900+ members and to build close professional relationships with attorneys representing management, unions and individuals alike.” 💁What does your volunteer service look like? “I am an original (and continuing) author of "Wisconsin Employment Law," now in its 9th edition. We wrote that three-volume treatise from scratch, starting back in 1992. I am still updating it annually, 34 years later.” 👀Why is it important to volunteer? “I strongly encourage attorneys to serve on non-profit boards and in community organizations. As lawyers, we bring specialized skills that can help those organizations deal with challenges strategically and head on. Such service demonstrates our profession’s very real commitment to the public good, and helps change any negative perception of attorneys.” 🤩Share an interesting fact about yourself. “I’ve sung Brahms’ ‘A German Requiem’ at Carnegie Hall (as part of the Dartmouth Glee Club).” 📣 Share your own volunteer efforts in the comments or give a shoutout to another legal professional. 🙏 Get involved in your profession.
