Masters of the BO Universe!! 💪📊 After a lot of reflection on where the data industry is heading 🤔, I’m pleased to announce that Greyskull Analytics will be pivoting to focus exclusively on SAP BusinessObjects. While modern platforms like Fabric, Databricks, and dbt have had their moment 🚀, it’s clear the future of analytics lies in time-tested, battle-hardened tooling 🏛️ Why BO? Semantic layers that have truly stood the test of time ⏳ Universes so complex they can only be understood by the chosen few 🧙♂️ A governance model enforced not by tooling… but by fear 😅 I’ll be doubling down on: Web Intelligence (now rebranded internally as “Web Eternia”) 🌐⚔️ Crystal Reports (still undefeated in the “pixel-perfect or nothing” category) 💎📄 Universe design patterns passed down through the Council of Elders 👴📜 As always, our mission remains the same: By the power of Greyskull… deliver governed, trusted reporting to the business ⚡📈 If you’re looking to migrate back from your lakehouse to something with real legacy 🏺, feel free to reach out! #data #analytics #satire #aprilfools
By the elder gods SAP BusinessObjects will never die
Still by far the best analytics reporting tool... Many times now you're thinking 'why is this so difficult, we used to do it easily in deski /webi'
Show me one modern tool (with the exception of AI) that understands that semantic models need contexts for cross fact aggregation and one where the reporting tool automatically knows how to write the correct SQL for cross context dims and measures. It’s such a simple concept and it’s mind-boggling that no modern visualization tool does this for you! As much as this is sarcasm, it’s also a reminder that progress actually requires tangible progress.. not marketing spin.
100% this! Used it most of my career and as an easy to adopt, scalable, functional tool, I haven’t found anything better. I’ll be absolutely honest. It’s a bold move but having used most of the new wave, I’m not totally sold on products that are themselves slowly changing dimensions.
BO and its universes, this post brings many memories from my early career.
I share the same feeling that SAP BO has been way ahead of the tools that are currently available in market for Reporting/Data visualization specifically in tightly governed environment. Its a blend of flexibility and robustness in one single tool which is hard to find elsewhere.

Combine this with the "Return of Deski" & my all time favorite, "Legend of Xcelsius Lives", and I think you're on to something!
MDX for the people!
unironically better than most modern tools lol
