Proud to announce that HL7 Europe and IHE-Europe have jointly developed two new specifications under the EURIDICE initiative. ✅ EU Imaging Study Report FHIR Implementation Guide (R4) ✅ EU Health Data API FHIR Implementation Guide Both implementation guides define sets of EHR functionalities that meet the Interoperability Component requirements of the EHDS, describing how IHE profiles and existing specifications can enable secure, interoperable exchange of electronic health data across Europe. Master Data in Healthcare is becoming mainstream! During the Global HIMSS event last week CMS-related discussions, HL7 Interoperability forums, panels, and at vendor booths at HIMSS 2026 last week, one topic kept surfacing ... Issues with FHIR mapping, issues with Data Quality, and mis-aligned vocabularies. Why? Many organizations developed their FHIR services from their EHRs. The very EHRs riddled with years of data from consolidations and from EHRs that did not have Data Governance involved in the FHIR related projects. Not all organizations are as challenged. Those who developed APIs aligned to FHIR IGs and included the additional capabilities - Master Data Management (and Data Governance), not EMPI-lite. The pressure continues across the nation because now comes the Patient Identity Matching requirements. Is your organization ready?
