Great to see this work in action! This has been led by Jo Lock, with Daniel Burgess and Lachlan Fisher right alongside, bringing it to life. What stands out to me is the discipline behind it. This hasn’t happened by chance. It’s come from doing things differently - building capability internally, keeping learning close to the work, and creating the structure for people to be assessed and signed off as they go. More importantly, it shows what’s possible when learning becomes part of how work happens, not something extra on top. Ka pai team. This is awesome to see!

Setting the benchmark: 10 credits achieved in the first three months At Tegel Foods Ltd, New Plymouth, success has not been left to chance. It has been strategically designed, carefully supported, and consistently delivered. Jo Lock, Senior Learning & Capability Partner, alongside trainers Daniel and Lachlan, have set an exemplary standard for achievement. With 31 enrolments onsite at New Plymouth, the results have been nothing short of exceptional. Competenz is proud to support Tegel Foods Ltd on this journey. Best practice framework for early credit achievement The team’s structured and disciplined approach demonstrates what best practice looks like in action: 🔹 Strong foundations: Capacity was strengthened early, with registered verifiers established to ensure quality assurance processes were embedded from the outset 🔹 Strategic annual planning: All unit standards are mapped out across the year, typically one per month, creating clarity, structure, and momentum 🔹 Assessment clarity workshops: Dedicated workshops ensure learners understand what an assessment is, how it works, and what “quality evidence” looks like 🔹 Protected learning time: Dedicated time with trainers reinforces that learning is a priority 🔹 Workplace-integrated evidence gathering: Learners’ complete assessments, with trainers visiting work areas to collect authentic, real-time supporting evidence 🔹 Quality-first verification: Assessments are rigorously checked and evidence verified. Only work that meets the highest standard is accepted Results that speak for themselves. Frequent feedback from the assessor highlights that the standard of work completed by the New Plymouth team is exceptionally high. The consistency, discipline, and commitment to quality have positioned Tegel NP as a model of excellence in capability development. This is what setting the benchmark looks like. Grateful for the shout-out—it's truly appreciated. I’m proud to be part of creating opportunities for our people to achieve National Qualifications through our in-house programmes. These successes are never individual—they reflect a strong, collaborative effort across the team. A special mention to Daniel and Lachlan for the dedication, support, and mahi they bring every day. Seeing their growth, and now watching those they train go on to succeed, is incredibly rewarding.
