⏳ This Thursday — don’t miss it Medical #terminologies are not just a technical layer. They are the foundation of semantic interoperability in digital health. As part of the Hospitals on FHIR – Implement the EU Lab Report in your hospital series (an HL7 Europe/ XiA project collaboration) , this session focuses on understanding medical terminologies: a key building block for any interoperable eHealth system. 💡 In just 30 minutes, you will get: • A clear introduction to medical terminologies (#SNOMED CT, #LOINC, #ICD, #UCUM) • Why they are essential to ensure data meaning is shared and reusable • How they fit within the broader EHDS and interoperability landscape 🎤 With Roberta Gazzarata (HL7 Europe) 📅 26 March 2026 | 15:00 CET 👉 Register here: https://lnkd.in/dpHJ9Hr6 A fundamental session for anyone working on digital health, interoperability and #EHDS readiness. #XiAProject #FHIR #EHDS #Interoperability #DigitalHealth #HealthIT #Terminologies Cc Henrique Martins Simon Lewerenz Sérgio Dinis Maria Manuel Salazar Francini Hak Ailton Moreira Outi Ahonen Tarja Laakkonen Anne Moen Silje Havrevold Henni Prof. Georgi Chaltikyan, MD, PhD Eugenia Lvova Natalia Allegretti Federica Porcu Luc Chatty Rhonda Facile Catherine E Chronaki, FHL7, FIAHSI, MBA Giorgio Cangioli

We are pleased to announce the publication of the HIMSS D-A-CH white paper “Interoperability in hospitals in view of the European Health Data Space”. This document highlights the key role of interoperability in European hospitals within the context of the European Health Data Space (EHDS) regulation and illustrates its concrete impact through several real-world use cases. 🔍 A section of the white paper is dedicated to Centre Hospitalier de Gonesse (France), focusing on the implementation of the Philips Capsule Medical Device Information Platform (MDIP). MDIP enables the hospital to connect medical devices to the hospital information system, standardize and secure device data, and simplify the IT architecture. For clinical teams, this results in better real-time data availability, time savings, and improved decision support, contributing to patient safety and continuity of care. 👉 Read the White Paper: https://lnkd.in/gUHiityB

Following on from my earlier post: https://lnkd.in/eNW7pSiG The section titled “Diagnostic Pathway Support” sets out how I’ve been tackling the first chasm. The approach builds primarily on Yorkshire, Welsh and EU Core standards, together with IHE and HL7. Notably, this has led me to positions closely aligned with those adopted in Switzerland (https://lnkd.in/emGdd4rR ) and likely consistent with France (https://lnkd.in/er2tMGU8 ) and other countries advancing similar interoperability frameworks. I’ve also drawn on elements from NHS England and IHE UK Radiology (National Imaging Registry), which is where the original linkage to the French and Swiss approaches emerged. Traces of the second chasm are visible at the edges of the diagram. This prompts a broader question: are we dealing with an organisational issue — Conway’s Law at play? I don’t see this work as North West–specific; the patterns and solutions feel far more generalisable. It seems the core issue may be the absence of a dedicated England/UK body to coordinate diagnostic pathway support. Is that role meant to sit with IHE UK? And if so, should one of the UK NHS organisations (England, Wales, NI or Scotland) — or the Department of Health — be formally funding and backing IHE UK to fulfil it?

Excited to be contributing to the EBMT Annual Meeting 2026 in Madrid this week — both as session chair and presenter in the CAR-T oral session. I will be chairing Oral Session 13 | CAR-T, together with Igor Kos, and also presenting our work on risk dynamics after lisocabtagene maraleucel infusion. In this pooled analysis of 7 clinical trials, we aimed to address a very practical question in daily CAR-T care: 👉 What is the residual risk of CRS or neurological events from any given day after infusion? By quantifying day-by-day risk, we observed that: - The vast majority of events occur within the first 15 days - Residual risk decreases rapidly over time - Patients without prior events represent a lower-risk subgroup These findings may help support more individualized monitoring strategies and inform decisions around timing of discharge after CAR-T infusion, particularly as the field moves toward more flexible care models. 📍 Session: OS13 Oral Session 13 | CAR-T 🕒 Tuesday, March 24 | 14:30–15:45 (presentation at 15:24) 📍 Room N107 — Abstract #643 Looking forward to the discussion and to exchanging perspectives with colleagues across the field. #EBMT2026 #CART #CellTherapy #Hematology #ClinicalResearch
Day 1 of EBMT 2026 is underway in Madrid #EBMT26. Today’s programme brings together scientific exchange, collaboration, and engagement across the global EBMT community. 🔬 A strong start to a meeting focused on advancing the field and improving patient care. How has your experience been so far at the meeting?

This week we celebrate #healthcarescienceweek2026 A chance to recognise the incredible work of healthcare scientists across the UK who support patient care every day. From diagnostic testing and medical imaging to genomics and physiological science, healthcare scientists play a vital role in ensuring patients receive accurate diagnoses and effective treatment. Behind the scenes, their expertise underpins many of the critical decisions made across our healthcare system. At UKAS , we’re proud to support this work through accreditation, helping laboratories, diagnostic services and healthcare providers demonstrate competence, consistency and trust. Accreditation provides confidence that services are operating to internationally recognised standards, supporting quality, reliability and ultimately better outcomes for patients. Healthcare Science Week is a great opportunity to highlight the people, technology and standards that make high-quality healthcare possible. Thank you to all healthcare scientists and accredited organisations whose dedication helps maintain trust in vital healthcare services. #HealthcareScienceWeek #HealthcareScience #QualityInHealthcare #Accreditation #PatientSafety #UKAS #AHCS
