EASPD - European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities’ Post

EASPD, together with 68 European networks and 288 national organisations from 32 countries, call for a strong social EU budget. We urge EU institutions to safeguard and strengthen the European Social Fund (ESF) and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as standalone, well-funded programmes in the next Multiannual Financial Framework (2028–2034). As negotiations move forward, our message is clear:  👉 Build on what works  👉 Protect funding for social inclusion  👉 Ensure support reaches those most excluded ESF and ERDF are essential to support employment, education and inclusion across Europe- including for persons with disabilities. We believe strong, dedicated social funding is key to delivering real impact on the ground. #Motherhood and #disability intersect in ways that create unique challenges that are often overlooked and misunderstood. 👉 Access our full statement here: https://makemothersmatter.org/mmms-response-to-the-eu-public-consultation-on-the-rights-of-persons-with-disabilities/

Public funding to disability employment is the best investment that a society can do (active policies) with much more returns than the invested money.

Prioritising mental health and wellbeing doesn't happen in a vacuum. What policymakers decide regarding the next EU multi-annual financial framework and how much they will dedicate to social spending is crucial. We proudly support this call on the EU to safeguard investment in people and communities! 👏

Strong message. Funding social inclusion is essential, but impact depends on how accessible these systems are in practice especially for people facing cognitive and structural barriers. If complexity is not addressed, support often fails to reach those who need it most. There is a growing need to design systems that reduce cognitive load and enable real participation. This is a direction we are actively exploring through SCaLMoRa.

ESF is helping a lot of work on deinstitutionalisation and having good support for people with intellectual disabilities in Europe. It is important to keep its good impact and make it even better!
