My colleagues and I recently wrote a book chapter titled "Early Warning Systems: Whispers in the Global Corridors" to help people understand the Middle East. If you are in the wrong corridor - you hear the wrong message. You need to be invited to the right rooms and this takes trust. Politics and power do not build trust - they manipulate people and agendas. Time, patience and actions build trust. But trust is so tenuous, it can dissapear as can patience. Perhaps this chapter will shed light on why peace is negotiated diplomatically using soft power and why hard power and force do not work. Most western countries fail to hear the EWS because they use their own system of governance. People's lives matter. Reputations matter. #peace #diplomacy #EWS #softpower #hardpower #MiddleEast #Trust The chapter can be bought here: https://lnkd.in/dj3BvvR7 You can find the preprint on www.melodena.com Infographic using @google notebookLM
