This week five years ago, millions of Texans were left powerless as below-freezing temperatures and unprecedented amounts of snow and ice blanketed the state. Winter Storm Uri was one of Texas’ worst natural disasters, causing catastrophic and traumatic impacts on a majority of our lives, many of which still linger to this day. Cynthia Pierce was one of at least 246 people who died during the storm at an assisted living facility in Austin. Now her family is still fighting for accountability.
