Company Culture is something that’s frequently talked about and often flaunted; but in reality, it is sometimes lacking or overlooked by companies. I was sick earlier this week – it was nothing serious, just a common cold; but I let my team know I was going to be slow in responding and less able to handle things. (yes, we can discuss whether this was the right approach or not and whether I should have just taken the day off, but not the point of this post.) The point of this post is to showcase that my colleagues at Superconnector Studios heard that I was not feeling well at 8am. By 11:30am, a delivery of chicken soup, bagel chips, and a kind get better soon note was on my doorstep. (paid by the company as part of standard practices) Was this absolutely necessary – absolutely not! But, did it make me feel good? ABSOLUTELY! Did it reinforce why I love my colleagues at Superconnector Studios? Yes. Did it make me think about how important establishing a strong company culture is? Yes. (Clearly, I’m writing this post…) A lot of company culture is established by employees themselves, but it’s important for companies to provide some guidance and to lead by example. I’m really proud to be part of a company that does little things like this to help reinforce an amazing company culture, and to support our employees. The small things that seem simple really add up. The soup was delicious! :-)
I remember when CAA used to send a runner to my house when I was ill, that is something we should all try to resurect! Feel better Brendan Shields-Shimizu
Agree, the thoughtful gestures (no matter how small) are so meaningful. And yes :) I’m in the camp of taking the day off to rest, but that’s always a personal decision 😀. Glad you are on the mend.
This is the sweetest 😭
