Want to build connection in a hybrid world? Start with giving. In the era of remote and hybrid work, CSR leaders are under pressure to rebuild engagement and culture. But launching a workplace giving program can seem overwhelming, especially for small or mid-sized teams without full-time CSR staff. Here’s the truth: it doesn’t have to be complicated. With the right strategy (and tools), you can launch a meaningful giving program in weeks — not months. Here are 5 ways to make it work 👇 1️⃣ Offer multiple ways to give. Payroll deductions, credit/debit, ACH, stock, DAF transfers — flexibility means more participation. 2️⃣ Get leadership buy-in early. Culture starts at the top. When execs give, employees follow. 3️⃣ Align giving to your company’s mission. Programs tied to your values feel authentic — and build brand equity. 4️⃣ Gamify and celebrate participation. Small incentives or team competitions keep energy high. 5️⃣ Ask for feedback and iterate. The best CSR programs evolve with employee input. The easier you make it to give, the more employees will participate. That’s exactly why Groundswell was built — to remove friction and make workplace giving effortless. HR professionals know it well—employee engagement is the cornerstone of retaining talent, nurturing a positive workplace culture, and driving long-term success. The challenge is finding strategies that truly resonate with employees while delivering measurable business impact. Engagement and workplace morale go hand in hand. Engaged employees feel a stronger sense of purpose, fulfilment, and loyalty—leading to higher productivity, collaboration, and retention. Here are five strategies HR leaders can implement today: 1. Build Trust Through Transparency Trust is the foundation of every thriving workplace. Beyond surveys and town halls, leaders must foster genuine two-way communication, act on feedback, and show employees that their voices matter. Authenticity drives credibility and deepens engagement. 2. Encourage Peer Recognition & Charitable Giving Recognition from colleagues is a powerful motivator. Peer-to-peer recognition platforms help employees celebrate one another, while charitable giving incentives boost belonging and pride in contributing to a larger purpose. 3. Offer Skills-Based Volunteering Unlike traditional volunteering, skills-based opportunities allow employees to use their expertise to support nonprofits. This strengthens collaboration, builds new competencies, and creates a meaningful impact for both employees and communities. 4. Provide Paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO) Offering VTO demonstrates organizational commitment to social responsibility. Employees feel proud knowing their company supports them in giving back—without losing personal time or pay. 5. Organize Community Service Events Collaborative events, such as hackathons with nonprofits, energize teams and spark creativity. Employees apply their skills in new ways, strengthen teamwork, and make tangible contributions to society. How HR Can Scale Engagement Managing these initiatives can be complex. Employee engagement software, such as Catchafire, helps HR teams track CSR programs, facilitate recognition, and measure real-time impact—ensuring strategies remain effective and scalable. Engagement isn’t just about keeping employees happy—it’s about building a culture where people feel valued, motivated, and connected to a shared mission. By prioritizing trust, recognition, volunteering, and technology, HR leaders can strengthen culture, retain top talent, and drive long-term business growth. #EmployeeEngagement #HRLeadership #WorkplaceCulture #EmployeeExperience #PeopleAndCulture #TalentRetention #FutureOfWork #LeadershipDevelopment #EmployeeWellbeing #OrganizationalCulture #HRStrategy #CorporateSocialResponsibility

“We don’t have a problem here. We’re a really inclusive culture” A comment I heard recently in a workshop. Often it comes from people’s own experience in the workplace. The things they haven’t been subject to, those micro aggressions. Being interrupted in a meeting. Being excluded from important conversations. Being asked for the 100th time “where are you really from?” Those sideway glances, judgemental looks when you leave the office early to attend your child’s assembly. If we are to be a truly inclusive culture, it’s about looking beyond your own experiences and seeing things through other people’s experiences. Inclusion isn’t defined by how comfortable you feel at work — it’s about whether everyone feels they belong, are respected, and can thrive. If someone tells you they’ve experienced bias, exclusion or microaggressions, resist the urge to say “that doesn’t happen here.” Instead, ask: What might be missing? Whose voices are not being heard? What can I do to ensure everyone feels heard in meetings? What can I do to create a safe space for others? Because real inclusion isn’t about believing you are inclusive — it’s about being curious enough to find out where you aren’t yet. As it's #ProBonoWeek, we’re exploring how companies are leveraging employee expertise to create meaningful community engagement. Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship's latest Community Involvement Study reveals changing patterns in how companies engage employees in social impact. Here's what caught our attention: 43% of companies now measure the connection between volunteering and employee engagement. Of those who measure it, 93% find that employees who volunteer are more engaged than those who don't. At Pyxera Global, we track employee engagement metrics like job satisfaction and professional skill development amongst participants before and after skills-based volunteering (SBV) programs. We’ve seen a similar increase. With employee engagement at an all-time low, offering #SkillsBasedVolunteering is a solution. Find the report in our comments! #WhatSBVCanBe #EmployeeEngagement #PurposefulPartnership

October is Speak Up Month - an ideal moment to reflect on how we create environments where employees feel confident raising concerns, ideas,or dissenting views 🗣️ A culture of psychological safety is so important and here’s how to foster it in the workplace: ➡️Trust: People believe they’ll be heard without retaliation ➡️Transparency: Leadership communicates openly and honestly ➡️Accessibility: There are multiple channels (anonymous reporting, open forums) ➡️Consistency: Feedback is acted on and communicated back When your people feel their voices matter, you build engagement, innovation, and loyalty. #speakupmonth #workplaceculture #inclusiveworkplace #leadershipdevelopment #employeeengagement #opencommunication #workplacewellbeing
