- [Instructor] Often when you're writing an email, you want someone to do something, to take an action, like reviewing a document, answering a question, or booking an appointment, and the best way to make sure the reader sees your request is to highlight the action item. You can do this in multiple ways. First, try to include at least a hint that you need an action in your subject line. If your company uses subject line tags, that can be as simple as including, "Action needed," at the beginning of your subject. If that seems too aggressive, you can use wording such as, "Please review Alyssa's proposal," or, "When is Quinn in the office again?" Next, don't bury your request in the middle of the email. If readers are scanning your message, they're more likely to see the request if you put it at the beginning of your message. You can start with something like, "I've attached to Alyssa's proposal.
