- [Instructor] Here's a little history lesson. The CC in your email program is an abbreviation of carbon copy, which comes from office practices long ago of making copies by putting carbon paper between two other pieces of paper. You'd write or type on the top page, and the pressure on the carbon paper would copy the same text or drawing to the page below. The carbon copy could then be delivered to another person, and the sender would write their name after CC at the bottom of the page so recipients could see who got a copy. Today, you use the to field in an email system to list your primary recipients, and you use the CC, carbon copy, field for recipients who are being copied on an email, typically people who aren't the primary focus of the email. For example, you often copy people because you simply want to keep them in the loop. You generally don't CC people who are expected to take an action or to reply to the email.…
