- [Narrator] Not all proposals are going to be one overall price or lump sum for a few reasons. A customer and a contractor may agree to work together on an hourly basis. This is called time and materials, or T&M. Both parties should agree to the pricing method of the labor, the materials, and any equipment or tools pricing. Let's take a look. Here's a one page proposal. We already know that we have to include who it's going to and what it's all about, but further down, we have some more important information. Here's my first listing of service rates for electricians. You'll notice it says straight time, so that's the normal time working and the different classifications of electricians, a supervisor, a foreman, a standard journeyman electrician, and an apprentice. If the possibility exists that the electricians will be working overtime and those rates are different, which they should be, I'll list them also right here.
