Writing the cover or title page
- The title fly or the title page, one of those is the first thing the reader sees. So, the appearance needs to be attractive and give a good first impression. Not all reports will have both, but the top level formal report probably will. The only difference between the two is that the title fly contains only the title, perhaps with a graphic. The title page will have the title, the graphic, along with the writer and reader identification and the submission date. Of course, the title needs to be composed before the title fly or the title page can be completed. Composing the title should be given as much thought and attention as every other part of the report. It needs to be complete and concise. Asking and answering the journalistic questions will help you compose that exact title. Who, what, when, where, why, and how.
