When does a cross-functional team fit?

- It's not always clear when you should work in cross-functional teams. They're interdependent and interdisciplinary. They're interdependent because they depend on each other to deliver the product. They're interdisciplinary because they're from different functional areas. As you can imagine, this type of team is not always the best fit for every organization. If you have a product that's well-established and slow moving, then you might not want a cross-functional team. Imagine if you're a medical device manufacturer producing doctor's stethoscopes. A stethoscope is a centuries old device that probably doesn't have too many changes. It's what you see doctors wearing around their neck when they want to listen to a patient's chest.
