- Working on cross-functional teams can help the team communicate and set shared commitments. Once the team sets their direction, they still have to go through the difficult process of delivering their product. Each team member needs to understand the whole product, only then can they have a shared commitment to deliver that product. That shared commitment means that a team member in human resources or marketing needs to have some general knowledge about software development. It also means that software developers need to know a little bit more about marketing and human resources. That requires a lot of learning. It's not just learning about your product.
