- [Nick] If you're working on a Mac, when you launch Microsoft Word, the first thing you'll see is the Word Document Gallery. It's basically a start screen, where you can start a new document or open an existing document. But if you prefer to start with a blank document every time you open Word, you can set it to skip this start screen. We're seeing this on a Mac in this video. The settings for Windows were covered in a different video. So, what you'll need to do is go into Preferences. So, in the menus up at the top, go to the main Word menu, then go to Preferences, then to the General category. And then, you can turn off this option to show the Document Gallery when opening Word. I'll just click that to turn it off, then I can close this, and then I'm going to quit Word. And in the future, you'll see when I launch Microsoft Word, it does not go to that start screen.
