Performance Monitor has changed very little since its first inception in Windows Server 2000, and we can go ahead and see this pre-installed utility by going into Tools, and then going into Performance Monitor in Server Manager. This is also available on Windows clients as well. When we go into Performance, we see Performance Monitor. And by default, we can see the processor time at the very bottom. Processor time is just going to tell us how busy the processor is in the server. And this is the same type of monitor you're going to see if you go into Task Manager and click on Performance. You don't have to just stay with this particular counter though, you can click on plus at the top and choose anyone from dozens of different counters. Some are software-based, some are hardware based, and you can scroll through them.
