- [Instructor] Windows DHCP services are included with every Windows Server, at no additional charge, you can also have redundancy and a wide array of DHCP options, exclusions, and reservations. If you plan to use a DHCP server on the same subnet as another DHCP server, be sure to turn the Windows one off, or it will cause a conflict between them. When the Windows DHCP server sees another DHCP server that isn't authorized on the network, the Windows DHCP server will turn itself off. Internet service providers provide modems that are also routers and firewalls. You might recognize yours here. They come with a DHCP service that is already turned on, and will start feeding automatic IP addresses to any no statically set device. Most other DHCP servers don't have the many feature options or redundancy you get on a Windows DHCP server, such as reservations, exclusions, and many other options.
