- [Instructor] Since responding to client queries is a major function of a DNS server, you may want to have a way of being able to test a DNS server's querying ability to help you troubleshoot problems if people are complaining about name resolution issues. So to demonstrate this, I am going to connect to DC-1, which is a functional DNS server in my network. Here in the Server Manager we'll go up to tools and select DNS. Here in the DNS manager, if we go to the properties of DC-1, so right-click and select Properties, in the properties you'll see that there is a monitoring tab where we have the ability to go ahead and perform a test on simple querying and/or recursive querying. And if I want to do the test right now, all I have to do is click the button that says Test Now.
