- [Instructor] With Azure and Office 365, we explored using our local identities to access cloud services. AD FS is designed to help manage internal identities to outside services, but it's also designed to manage how outside identities can be granted access to internal resources. Let's switch gears and take a look at a different active directory scenario. Let's say that Landon Hotel decided not to use Azure Active Directory. Instead they wanted to identify external users and their devices using a concept that's been around for quite awhile, Microsoft Passports. Originally, Microsoft Passports were nothing more than a set of credentials maintained by Microsoft that could be used as a wallet identity to other providers. In this way, they were similar to a Google ID or a Facebook account, or any number of other identity providers available today.
