Demo: vCenter 7 scheduled backups and retention policies
In this video, I'll demonstrate how to set up schedule backups and a retention policy for the vCenter server appliance using the VAMI or the vCenter Appliance Management Interface. So here I am at the home screen for the VAMI, I'm going to go to backup. You can see I've got a manual backup that I've already completed to an SMB share. And by the way, this is a relatively new feature of vCenter. We can now do either NFS or SMB backup destinations for the vCenter server appliance, and you can see all the different destinations that are listed here. So I can push my file based vCenter backups to FTPS, HTTPS, SFTP, FTP, NFS, SMB and HTP. So I'm going to stick with SMB. And let's click on configure here. So I'm going to put in my backup location. And if you watched my manual backup demo, this is the exact same backup location and the same credentials. Now, what time of day do I want my backup to occur? I'm going to pick something…
