(electronic beeping) - Hello and welcome to video post-production weekly. Today we're going to take a look at video fields and why they're still relevant in post-production. Now to do this, we need to understand what a video field actually is. - So a field is one of many still images, which are displayed sequentially to create the impression of motion on a screen. So two fields compromise one video frame. When the fields are displayed on a video monitor, they are interlaced so that the content of one field will be used on all of the odd numbered lines and then the other field will be displayed on the even lines. So interlaced video, also known as interlaced scan, is a technique for doubling the perceived frame rates of a video display without consuming extra bandwidth.
