- When people speak of depth of field, they're often talking about how far focus extends into a scene. More and more, people are shooting with shallower depth of field to push things like backdrops out of focus. This is particularly popular with more cinematic productions. Fortunately, we can apply the same techniques to our stills to push those areas with depth, more out of focus, making them more great with chroma keying. Let's open up a couple more images. I'll go into the folder here, called depth of field, and just open these up. Here we have our locker room, all in focus, versus out of focus, and we have our background blur, and our processed one where the background is out of focus. All right, let's go ahead and tweak this a bit. To start, I'm going to make a pretty straightforward selection. I can choose select subject and it will attempt to find the object for me. Not bad.
