- Let's talk about the 72 million educated, independent consumers in the U.S. who want choices, and are tech-savvy enough to find them. And no, I'm not talking about millennials. I'm talking about baby boomers. As humans age, we face challenges in physical and cognitive abilities. And while most training about this generation focuses on addressing these challenges through text size, closed captioning, and providing guidance, there is so much more to this demographic. This generation, mostly in their 60s and 70s right now, doesn't see themselves as old. They don't view aging as a time of decline. They expect to keep living life to the fullest everyday. When designing for boomers, the trick is to put the challenges aside for a moment, and really focus on the fundamental values and beliefs your customers hold, why you design for them in the first place.
