Who this course is for and what you need
- Before we dive in, it's worth highlighting who this course is for, what you'll need, and what you'll learn. This course is tailored for data analysts, data engineers, and anyone working hands-on with both Snowflake and the Tableau ecosystem. Whether you're looking to enhance your existing skills or explore the integration of these powerful tools, you'll find valuable insights and practical techniques throughout this course. We'll take a hands-on approach, showcasing practical steps and techniques for you to follow. While you can benefit from simply watching the content, I highly recommend following along with as many lessons as possible to build muscle memory and deepen your understanding. With that in mind, you'll need access to Snowflake and Tableau to get the most of this course. For Tableau, you should have a Creator license, which provides access to the complete Tableau ecosystem on Tableau Cloud or Tableau Server. For Snowflake, you'll need to ensure your roles and permissions in your sandbox allow you to follow along. The easiest way to do this is to start a free trial of Snowflake from their website. For Tableau, a Tableau trial will work, but joining the Tableau Developer Program for access to a developer instance of Tableau Cloud will give you full access to everything I'll show. My environment for this course is precisely that. The link to the developer program is in the notes. At the start of each lesson, I'll explain any resources you need and how to use them so you can follow along. Our journey will cover essential concepts and help you make the most of both Snowflake and Tableau. While we may focus more heavily on one platform at times, the course is designed to build your understanding progressively, enabling you to engage with increasingly advanced concepts across both tools. Let's get started by introducing you to both platforms.
