- Resumes always get the attention, but don't forget a cover letter creates more personalization and helps you explain your interest in the position while highlighting specific experiences and skills. First, since you already created your resume, feel free to copy and paste your resume into whatever generative AI tool you are using, asking it to write a cover letter. So be sure to ask, "Can you create a cover letter "for this accounting job I'm applying for in tech? "Here's my resume." Copy and paste it, "And here's the job description." Copy and paste it. Second, don't take the first copy AI has used to create your cover letter. Be sure to edit and update it with your human touch. Maybe you are applying for a job that was referred to you by a friend, so you may want to mention, "Your VP of sales, Brianna Carter, "recommended I apply for this job."
