Simulating feedback sessions with AI
- AI is amazing at helping you to develop communication strategies. That includes when your managers are having a difficult time communicating with each other or their subordinates. I like to ask the AI program a scenario for them to provide a feedback conversation, an open dialogue format, or other form of fierce conversation that we need to have. It will inevitably suggest approaches that you would not have thought about by yourself. As always, the more specific, the better. Since we're again talking about a new subject, I'm going to start with a new chat around it, and here's my query. "I'm Anita, an HR manager. Can you simulate a feedback conversation for a senior project manager named Bob who's having challenges working with new generation Z employees?" And before I even press the submit button, you can perhaps get more detailed about the challenges they're having or their age differences or the challenges that they have culturally in the organization. So the more data you put in, the more refined search you'll get back. And what I love about this, I've done this for a number of different conversations, it comes up with ideas you don't think of yourself, right? You're going to think of a lot of this, but what's amazing about it is you don't think of all of it the way this thing is programmed to think about the all of it, because that's what generative AI does. So as you can see, if we scroll down now, it's a whole conversation. You bring Bob in the office and you do your best to just follow this through this time of script. Now it's giving you what Bob may say, and you can actually go in and say, "Okay, given this conversation, what may be some of Bob's objections? And how do I deal with those objections?" So you can drill down into this conversation all that you want. You know, what would be a good answer by Bob? What would be a bad answer by Bob? How do I deal with a bad answer? You can just detail in it, so I love this. And as it says here, the AI is helping you to work together to create a productive and harmonious work environment for everybody. And the more it knows about you, the better it will tailor these responses. Two points I want to make. Number one, if you don't like the response you got, you can always tell AI that and why and what you would like to see done differently. You can keep doing that until you get the response you like. And number two, not only can AI help develop these conversations, it can also be programmed to have chatbots send reminders to the parties. Because it knows their specific challenges, it can give reminders about the importance of communicating well.
