Practical empathy
- Empathy is the ability to see things from another's perspective and be sensitive to their feelings and emotions. This is an ability we all have a capacity for and it can be a powerful tool in helping us relate more genuinely with one another regardless of our intersectional differences. Empathy also improves teamwork amongst colleagues and generates more positive results. Ernst & Young Consulting conducted a survey for which 85% of its participants reported that empathy in the workplace increases business productivity. Having consideration and care for those we work with and feeling cared for in return inspires enthusiasm, confidence, and comfortability in the way we work. Encouraging and practicing empathy gives way for creative collaboration and a sincere comradery across personnel.
