Artificial intelligence: From everyday tasks to global challenges
AI helps with small tasks. It also supports the United Nations in solving the world's biggest challenges. We all need to understand how to use it. From writing emails to coordinating disaster relief, AI is becoming essential. It matters in everyday life and on the global stage. My name is Chiri Zimaruara. I am the director of the United Nations University and an Undersecretary General of the United Nations. I have been researching artificial intelligence for the past 28 years, beginning with a PhD in AI at the University of Cambridge. I have authored over 30 books on artificial intelligence. I invite you to join me in this course on artificial intelligence and the sustainable development goals. We will explore what AI is, how it is already shaping our societies, and how it can be used responsibly to advance the SDGs rather than undermine them. We'll look at concrete real world use cases, reflect on risks and ethical questions, and discuss what all of this means for you in your own life. Our goal is to make AI understandable, practical, and actionable, so that you are better equipped to participate in the use of AI. Please join me as we dive into the world of AI, learning about how it can both improve our daily lives and support the goals of the United Nations. you
