- [Instructor] Welcome to type tips. This week, I'd like to talk about working with very small type. The kind that you might find in a disclaimer. There were two points that I want to make. The first is about the size. The size that I'm using here is 5.5 points. This is a typical or a traditional typography unit of measurement referred to as an Agate. And you can read about it on Wikipedia. And this size was typically used by newspapers to print their legal notices and other fine print. Now, in addition, and the second point I want to make, is we need to consider the properties of the typeface that we're using. I'm using a typeface here called Bell Centennial. Bell Centennial is a typeface that was designed for a very specific usage. Literally for the phone book, it was designed by Matthew Carter in the late seventies. And his client was AT&T.
