Create a mental boundary between you and stress
- Have you ever heard of mental separations, needing a mental break from something to gather your bearings? Well, sometimes we can't create an actual boundary between ourselves and work, ourselves and home life stressors, and ourselves and the world. It's just the truth of life. But when physical boundaries are not an option, mental boundaries can help. How do we do this? Let's practice together. Think of something stressful that keeps pestering your mind. Let's say that it keeps pestering you. It's not letting you stay present and move forward with your day. But as they say, "Out of sight, out of mind." So let's place it somewhere where it won't pester you until you can attend to it again with a clearer mind. Close your eyes and imagine placing the issue in a filing cabinet. Lock the cabinet with a big lock. Imagine yourself wrapping the filing cabinet in a heavy-duty padded blanket. Now wrap it in a Saran wrap. Wrap that with massive amounts of tape.
