- One of the biggest reasons why people turn down requests for media interviews, is because they think it's a poor return on investment. I mean, who has hours and hours to spend getting ready for an interview that could just last a few minutes? The good news is that there is an efficient and effective way to prepare for engaging with the media that will not overwhelm your work schedule. First, let's retire that old school FAQ, or a suggested Q&A document. You know the one that's eight or nine pages long and has 75 questions and answers on it. To me, the notion of sitting down and writing every possible question you think you could be asked and then crafting answers to those questions is preparing backwards. Try this instead, ask yourself, what are the best components of my narrative?
