The four corners approach

- I'm here to guide you through a set of exercises and activities to help you explore the ethics of your product or service. Our goal together is to uncover ethical challenges and use them to make your product better, but first, when I say ethics, I often see people's eyes glaze over or roll all the way in the back of their heads, and I don't blame them. Ethics is often presented as this firmly moralistic and academic exercise with weird and obvious examples that seem totally unrelated to what we do and how we live. So let's start by putting all of the thoughts we have about what ethics are and how they work in a box and stash it away for the next couple of hours, start with a clean mental slate so to speak. I have a tool for you. I call it the four corners approach. This is what we'll used to explore your product.
