Monitor component defect rates
Almost every manufacturer has to buy components from outside suppliers. That means you need to test them to ensure they work properly. In this movie, I will show you how to summarize the defect rate, that is, the number of mistakes from items that you buy from your suppliers. I've started in Excel and my sample file is 05_02_DefectRate. That's in the Chapter 5 folder of the Exercise Files collection. And I have a list of different components and then a batch ID. A batch is a group. You can think of it as a basket or a collection of things. And then the date that the batch was tested. The component ID and the component name, the number of items that were tested, and then the number that were found to be defective. And if I scroll down, you can see that we have 12 defects for the 200 series control board. And scrolling down, we have another set again. 700 had a few. And then the phone. And we'll see all of this in summary when we create our Tableau dashboard. So let's switch over to…
