In this chapter, we're going to look at supply chain transportation, and this refers specifically to outbound transportation. When you send products to your customers, you need to calculate your average delivery time and on-time rate, and also to track your cost, specifically cost per mile for outbound shipping. You insist that your suppliers do what they promise, and it's important that you do the same for your customers, and also that you do it at a price you can afford. If prices are going up, then you might need to raise your prices, but you can also look for ways to save. You also need to ensure that you are sending what your customers ask for. The freight bills that are included with every shipment should be checked, and most importantly, they should be accurate. And one measure that you can use to ensure accuracy, or at least track it, is to calculate the perfect order percentage.
