Create and populate a dashboard
One of Tableau's great strengths is the ability to create meaningful and usable dashboards. And in this movie, I will review the techniques that you use to do so. My sample file is 01_04_Dashboard, and you can find it in the Chapter 1 folder of the Exercise Files collection. This workbook contains two sheets, and I have sales by quarter here on Sheet 1, and on Sheet 2, I have the count of sales for each of the product categories within my data set. One thing I want to do before I start creating the dashboard is to change the names of the worksheets because honestly, Sheet 1 and Sheet 2 don't tell me anything about the data that's displayed. So I'm currently on Sheet 2. I will double-click on sheet tab and change it to Count of Product Category Sales. And press Enter. Then I will double-click Sheet 1, and this is sales by quarter. So that's what I'll call it, Sales by Quarter, and enter. So now when I add these visualizations to my dashboard, I will have a label already there and I…
