Customer service is an important part of any business, and customers, at least I do, really notice when it's not there. One of the ways that you can improve your customer service is to monitor the time it takes to return a message from a customer. And in this movie, I will show you how to summarize your performance in that area on a dashboard. I've started in Excel, and my sample file here is 05_03_CustomerResponse. You can find that in the Chapter 5 folder of the Exercise Files collection. I have a selection of customer contacts, broken down by contact ID, the date and time when the contact was received, the platform it came through: email, web, or priority email, the time that our company responded to them, and the time in hours of the delay. So you can see for email, it's typically about one and a half to two days, or 36 to 48 hours. But for our priority email customers, the goal is for the time to be much shorter.
