Create pie charts
- [Instructor] You can often gain important insights into your data by creating a pie chart, which displays the contributions of several parts to a total. In this movie, I will show you how to do that using data relating to a chain of hotels. My sample file is 08_03_Pie, and you can find it in the Chapter 8 folder of the Exercise Files Collection. This workbook contains data about items purchased to run a hotel chain. So, over in the sidebar, I have Product Categories, Dates of the Order, and then down below, I have items such as the Order Totals. If I want to summarize by product category, then I will first drag my measure over, so I'll do Order Total and move that to the Data area, and I see that number there, and then I will put Product Category in the Columns area. So, I have my five categories, and if I click the Show Me button at the top right and then click the pie chart, then I have a visual summary. And when I click the Show Me button again, I see that I have a legend that…
